Denny Elwell is an Iowa entrepreneur. Currently, Denny is the Chairman of Denny Elwell Company, LC a commercial real estate company in Ankeny, Iowa. Over the last 25 years he has transposed Ankeny with his business parks and commercial developments. Metro North I and II have become over 300 acres of prime commercial real estate encompassing the airport, several large industrial buildings, and pristine office spaces contained in a beautiful park like setting with walking paths and lakes. Denny brought national retailers to Ankeny helping to build the Delaware Avenue Power Center, a two mile corridor of over 2 million square feet of existing retail space. Prior to commercial real estate, Denny had several businesses from grocery stores to tire stores, but his most substantial business was Dee Zee Manufacturing. In 1978 Denny started Dee Zee to manufacture pick up truck running boards and auto accessories. This “little” venture erupted into an international manufacturing company immediately and in 1987 Denny sold Dee Zee to a Fortune 500 company, Lancaster Colony. It was after his manufacturing days that Denny decided to go full time into commercial real estate creating Denny Elwell Company, LC. Today, this company manages over 3 million square feet of property with over 500 tenants. Denny Elwell Company provides a range of real estate services including property management, brokerage services, and commercial development.
